Summary[edit]

Description

The National Science Foundation was one of the organizations participating in the Astronomy Festival on the National Mall on June 19, 2015. The festival, organized by Donald Lubowich, coordinator of astronomy outreach at Hofstra University, featured solar, optical and radio telescope observations of the sun, moon, planets and stars. Volunteers set up some 20 telescopes for the public to try out. NSF’s display provided information about its astronomy investments including some NSF-supported telescopes, photos of solar flares, galaxies and more, and opportunities to take a selfie with Albert Einstein.
