| Description |
English: Sceau de Ali ben Ghedhahem daté de 1864. Ali ben Ghedhahem, lettré, fils d’un cadi de la région de Kasserine, fut la grande figure de l’insurrection déclenchée par le décret beylical qui doubla l’impôt de la Mejba en avril 1864. La révolte déclenchée, dans l’ouest du pays, se propagea ensuite dans toute la Régence, à l’exception de quelques villes du littoral, mais elle fut rapidement matée et la répression subie par les populations resta dans les mémoires jusqu’au milieu du XXe siècle. Ali ben Ghedhahem, héros légendaire, fut arrêté et condamné. |
