Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Sadler House, Spa Green. The Spa Green Estate, located in the triangle between Rosebery Avenue and St John Street was designed by Russian emigre architect, Berthold Lubetkin, in the 1930s.
  • This was part of the old Borough of Finsbury's plan to replace its slum streets and was the first modernist serial housing in Britain - although due to the war the buildings were not completed until 1948.
  • Today, two-thirds of the flats (there are 33 in this block) are council tenanted, now under the Borough of Islington. The block is grade II listed.
