Summary[edit]

Description
English: Cased ambrotype with a half-length portrait of an officer with a beard in a dark, double-breasted uniform coat holding a sword in one hand with his other hand over his belt buckle. An eagle is visible on his shoulder board, indicating his rank as colonel.

During the Civil War, Robert White served as Lieutenant Colonel of the 5th U.S.R.C. (3 months) and Colonel with the 14th Missouri Home Guards Infantry. He was wounded in battle in Lexington, Missouri, Sept. 20, 1861.

Handwritten label included with image reads: "Colonel Robert White. Husband of Isabella White, daughter of James Haley White (?), Grandfather of Isabel White Houston Dobb"
