Description
Deutsch: Richtfunk-Anlage der RAI in Montan (BZ), Italien
English: Antennas of a microwave relay station in Montan, northern Italy, which transmits long-distance telephone calls, television programs, and other data between cities on beams of microwaves. Each pair of antennas is pointed at another relay station within line-of-sight distance, about 30-40 miles, which passes the data on. There are two antennas for each bidirectional link; one receiving and one transmitting. The antennas are of a type called a horn reflector antenna, which consists of a flaring vertical metal horn attached at bottom to a waveguide, with a 45° reflecting surface in its mouth, reflecting the microwaves in a horizontal direction.
