Summary[edit]

Description
English: One of at least a dozen, mostly rainbow-themed, tartan patterns designed for the LGBT+ community[1][2][3]. This one was registered as "Rainbow (Gay Community)" in 2000 by Ronnie Hek. This image is extactly full-sett (though staggered a bit from the thread count beginning, to show the pattern better) and can be tiled horizontally and vertically (it also upscales nicely to 200% to better show the weave, though it is not entirely photorealistic). Scottish Register of Tartans notes on this pattern: "The registration of this Ronnie Hek design reputed to be especially for the Gay (homosexual) community, caused quite a stir in the conventional Scottish Tartans Society and reputedly resulted in a dismissal. Scottish Tartans Authority would not accept a tartan for recording with the same name as an existing one but weavers and designers often don't bother checking prior to naming a new tartan and the Scottish Tartans Authority is presented with a fait accompli as in this case when the Rainbow tartan from Aljean of Canada predates it by some 25 years. Count doubled for display purposes." These notes were imported from the Scottish Tartans Authority, and pre-date the near-universal usage of the "LGBT+" acronym. SRT-provided thread count: B36 P36 R36 O36 Y36 LG72 (or /B36 P36 R36 O36 Y36 LG72/ in slash-notation).
