Summary[edit]

Description

The Pyramid of Djoser, located near the ancient town of Memphis, Egypt is sometimes called the Stepped Pyramid or the Pyramid of Saqqara.

It's the earliest colossal stone building in Egypt and was built in the 27th century BC - an astonishing age. It was originally clad with polished white limestone but that's all gone now.

It's located about 15km (9miles) South-east of the more-famous Great Pyramid of Giza.

Photo taken in 1984 using a Nikkormat FTn, 50mm f2.0 ai lens and Kodachrome.
