Summary[edit]

Description

Foster Mukendi, an Oxfam public health engineer, tests the water quality at a recently installed tap stand in Bunia, the biggest town in Ituri. The tap stand is one of several systems put in place to provide communities with clean, safe water - vital for stopping cholera.

Only half of Bunia's neighbourhoods receive any treated water, and the amount each person gets is only about a quarter of what humanitarian agencies normally say is acceptable. The Oxfam team in Bunia has been working with Ngongo, a local water provider, to try and improve water supply in the town.
