La collection du Neues Museum présente en particulier les trésors trouvés à Amarna, la capitale d'Aménophis IV Akhenaton, le pharaon hérétique. les archéologues allemands fouillèrent le site entre 1911 et 1914, en privilégiant les maisons particulières. Ce choix se révèla payant, car de nombreux objets y avaient été laissés. Cette découverte constitue une rupture dans la continuité millénaire de l'art de l'Egypte ancienne. extrait du site en français
