Summary[edit]

Description
English:
Priest at the altar in old church at the Acoma Pueblo, New Mexico, 1886
Photograph of a priest at the altar in the old church at the Acoma Pueblo, New Mexico, 1886. The wall above the altar consists of panels containing five paintings of religious figures and a statue of a Christ in the middle. Above the paintings, an arch contains a depiction of a figure (an angel?) in the clouds. The table at the altar is covered with a large cloth. A priest stands on the left of the altar, while another man stands on the right. The rails of the altar can be seen in front of the altar. Four steps lead up to the altar, while three paintings or hangings are visible on the side walls. The ceiling is ornately decorated.
