| Description |
English: Before the invention of fiber optics (dielectric waveguides) for telecommunications, there was intensive research in the 1960s on metallic circular waveguides in French research centers at CNET (National Center for Studies in Telecommunications) and at the CGE (Compagnie Générale d'Electricité).
Note the dated outfit: tie, white coat, pipe, measuring devices with electronic tubes, no computer.
Français : Avant l'invention des fibres optiques (Guides d'ondes diélectriques) pour les télécommunications, il y a eu des recherches intensives dans les années 1960 sur les guides d'onde circulaires métalliques dans les centres de recherche français au CNET (Centre National d'Etudes des Télécommunications) et à la CGE (Compagnie Générale d'Electricité).

The Marcoussis laboratories or research center were founded in 1956 in Marcoussis, 20 km from Paris. The objective was to bring together the various upstream applied research laboratories for the various CGE subsidiaries working in the field of production and distribution of electrical energy, telecommunications, consumer equipment: television, household appliances, etc. .
