Description
English: Circle of Ioannis Apakas (?) Virgin with Tree of Jesse (Praises of the Theotokos). Circa 1600
Русский: Похвала богоматери. Иоанн Апакасс (круг). Около 1600, Крит. дерево, темпера, позолота, чеканка (накладные нимбы). 60х46 см. Ж-1528, ГМИИ.

Реставрирована в 1932 г. в мастерской Государственного музея Изобразительных Искусств им. А. С. Пушкина, реставратор С.С.Чураков; затем в 1953 г. там же, реставраторы П.Д. Корин и Б.М. Шахов. Доска цельная, шпонки, нимбы накладные чеканные (позднейшие?). Утраты левкаса и красочного слоя, местами поновления, реставрационные тонировки 1932 г. Графья. Надписи греческие: имена пророков, соответствующие тексты на свитках.

Стилистическая справка: Икона архаизирующего стиля, воспроизводит прекрасный образец критского искусства рубежа XV-XVI вв., возможно, круга Николаоса Рицоса. Очертания фигуры Богоматери, вытянутой и расширенной книзу, острые носы ликов, суховатость рисунка и деталей, темный колорит близки кругу произведений Иоанна Апакаса. Миниатюрная техника с мельчайшими светами и изящным ассистом соответствует копийному и консервативному характеру его творчества. Однако нет уверенности, что икону можно приписать кисти этого мастера.
