Description
Isabella Ann Hutchison married the Danish Consul in London, Jens Wolff, in 1792. She is posed as the Erythraean Sibyl from the Sistine Chapel ceiling, studying a book of engravings of the Sistine Chapel that is open at the Delphic Sibyl. She is seated facing left, three-quarter length, face in profile, resting her head in her right hand; wearing a white satin high-waisted dress with long full sleeves and a high neck with small lace ruffle at wrists and neck; a matching turban, with her hair falling over her right shoulder; a small jeweled pin at her neck and gold bracelet on her left wrist; full blown pink rose under her left breast; and silk shawl.
