| Description |
Building of the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research (AWI) with a poster mounted to its western wall. The poster shows the research vessel POLARSTERN in Atka Bay, Antarctica during loading operations. The poster installation is part of the art project 'POLARFRONT' which was performed by Birgit Mieding, Johannes Freitag & Ingo Sikorski during the Year of the Geosciences in 2005 in cooperation with the AWI and the German Maritime Museum (DSM), both Bremerhaven, Germany. The project consisted of four large posters with photos from the Antarctic of which three were mounted to the walls of AWI and DSM and one installed in the river Weser. |
