Description
English: A plate engraved for the Macklin Bible after a specially-commissioned painting by Philippe Jacques De Loutherbourg. Photograph from the Bowyer Bible, Bolton, England. Bowyer Bible 02.0289. Noah's Sacrifice. Noah kneeling amongst his family before a pyre at left, his arms outstretched as he looks up to the heavens (Genesis 8:18,20). 1794. Inscriptions: Lettered below image with title, bible reference, production detail: "P. J. De Loutherbourgh pinxt.", "J. Hall sculp." and publication line: "London, Publish'd June 24 1794 by Thos. Macklin, Poet's Gallery, Fleet Street". Print made by John Hall. Dimensions: Height: 477 millimetres; width: 394 millimetres.
