Español: Pareja de piqueros patiazules (Sula nebouxii) durante el ritual de apareamiento, Isla Lobos, Islas Galápagos, Ecuador. El piquero patiazul es un ave marina con unas alas que pueden alcanzar una longitud de hasta 1.5 m (4.9 ft). La especie tiene una altura de 90 cm (35 in) y es muy fácil de identificar gracias a sus patas de color azul, que son parte de su proceso de selección sexual al formar parte de un elaborado ritual de apareamiento en el que se balancean subiendo las patas mientras sacan pecho ante la hembra. Aunque se suele asociar a los piqueros patiazules con las islas Galápagos (donde anidan la mitad de todos los ejemplares), también se pueden encontrar en las zonas costeras entre el Golfo de California, pasando por América Central, hasta Perú.
English: Couple of Blue-footed boobies (Sula nebouxii) during a mating ritual, Lobos Island, Galápagos Islands, Ecuador. The blue-footed booby is a long-winged seabird with a wingspan of up to 1.5 m (4.9 ft). The species is 90 cm (35 in) high and is easily recognizable by its distinctive bright blue feet, which is a sexually selected trait, as the males display their feet in an elaborate mating ritual by lifting their feet up and down while strutting before the female. Although the blue-footed boobies are usually associated to the Galápagos Islands (where half of all breedinmg pairs nest), they can be found from the Gulf of California down along the western coasts of Central and South America down to Peru.
Deutsch: Ein Paar von Blaufußtölpeln (Sula nebouxii) während des Paarungsrituals auf Lobos, einer der Galapagosinseln (Ecuador). Der Blaufußtölpel ist ein Meeresvogel von bis zu 1,5 Metern Flügelspannweite. Die Tiere sind bis zu 90 cm groß und leicht an den hervorstechenden blauen Füßen erkennbar, die ein durch sexuelle Selektion hervorgerufenes Merkmal sind, da die männlichen Tier ihre Füße in einem komplexen Paarungsritual vorzeigen, indem sie sie auf- und ab bewegen während sie vor den Weibchen hin und her stolzieren. Obwohl Blaufußtölpel üblicherweise mit den Galapagosinseln assoziiert werden (wo die Hälfte aller brütenden Paare nisten) können sie vom Golf von Kalifornien entlang der Westküste Mittel- und Südamerikas bis hinunter nach Peru gefunden werden.

Čeština: Pár terejů modronohých (Sula nebouxii), který byl zachycen na ostrově Lobos, souostroví Galapágy, během namlouvacího rituálu. Terejové modronozí jsou mořští ptáci s velkým rozpětím křídel až 1,5 metru. Jsou vysocí asi 90 cm a snadno je lze poznat podle nápadně světle modrých nohou. Ty hrají klíčovou roli během namlouvacího rituálu, sameček při propracovaném tanci ukazuje nohy samičce a snaží se ji zaujmout. Terejové modronozí jsou typickými představiteli galapážské ptačí fauny, přesto je lze pozorovat na širokém pásmu západního pobřeží Severní, Střední i Jižní Ameriky (od Kalifornie po Peru).
