Summary[edit]

Description

A sign marks important nesting habitat for the endangered piping plover.

The sign reads: Closed area. Piping plover nesting area. Do not proceed beyond this point. Piping plovers are endangered and protected by the Federal Endangered Species Act of 1973 and Wisconsin State Statute 29.604 and Administrative Rule NR27. Report any disturbance to: U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (920) 866-1717. Report a violation hotline: 1-800-847-9367 Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Law Enforcement (608) 221-1206.
