The King's Head, Chigwell. The King's Head, Chigwell (close to Epping Forest), has been and still is a great house of call for verderers of the Chase, and gentlemen of the Hunt. Chigwell has an ancient parish church of its own, with a Norman arch over its south door. An extensive view is obtained from Chigwell Row over the south of Essex and the Thames into Kent. The Maypole Inn, famous in " Barnaby Rudge " was close to Chigwell, of which village Solomon Daisy was the bellringer.
