Description
English: The Philips 212 Electronic turntable is used for playing disc records at 33 and 45 rpm; there were DIY conversions to 78 rpm [1]. This belt-drive unit and a similar model 312 were made in 1972-1976, and were very common both in Europe and North America. The shape of the headshell gives away that it's really an early 70s design. The headshell is not removable but it contains a removable sub-frame for mounting the cartridge. The short wires attached to this sub-frame must be connected to the headshell sockets one by one, manually. The arm allows both tracking force and antiskating adjustments. The unit has electronic speed control, variable pitch control (but no quartz lock), and an optical autostop+autolift feature (but no autoreturn ). Wow and flutter conservatively rated at 0.1%.
