Summary[edit]
DescriptionPhalaris arundinacea (3920900360).jpg | The glumes and florets of Phalaris arundinacea (right half of photo) differ from those of Phalaris canariensis (left half of photo) by being smaller and in having the two lower sterile florets reduced to two small linear hairy scales (seen lining the bottom margin of the uppermost fruit producing floret). The well developed scales (reduced sterile lemmas) are typical of this genus and related genera that produce sterile florets below the fertile one. |
