Summary[edit]

Description
English: The contemporary picture shows the outside view of Pelikan-Apotheke (= Pelican Pharmacy) in Germany's capital Berlin during Nazi Era. The old-established pharmacy which got privileged in 1692 was located in one of the most busy streets, Leipziger Strasse. The picture was probably taken in early April 1933 when the Nazis started their boycott of Jewish businesses. The showcase and the entrance door got marked with signs that read "Germans! Defend yourselves! Don't buy from Jews." In addition some Nazi thug painted in white color the lettering "This Jew is getting cheeky." In 1936 the "Pelikan-Apotheke" got „Aryanized“. Between 1926/27 the pharmacy was owned by Isaak Egon David Bry (born on 23 June 1885 in Thorn, West Prussia, German Reich; deceased on 10 June 1944 in Tel Aviv, Mandatory Palestine). Both of his sons, Gerhard Bry (born on 29 June 1911 in Berlin; deceased on 17 August 1996 in West Orange, New Jersey, USA) and Ernst Bry (born on 3 April 1917 in Berlin; deceased as Dan Bry on 8 April 2005 in Netanya, Israel) got recruited for the marxist-leninist organisation "Org.", "LO" or Neu Beginnen or "Miles Gruppe". In about 1935 they got wanted by Gestapo.
