Summary

[edit]
Description
English: [Shane's Castle, 1903] Two women, a man and a dog standing in front of the ruins of Shane's Castle Randals town, Co. Antrim.]

The title in the catalogue was incorrect for this photo as pointed out by [/photos/91549360@N03/ Dr O Mac]. He tells us that this is Pallas Castle, Tynagh near Loughrea, Co.Galway.

Our Galway correspondent [/photos/75556178@N05/ Inverarra] who obviously knows the castle, states "This is regarded as the best preserved tower house in County Galway. Built around 1500 and like many other Galway tower houses, it was built by the De Burgos or Burkes."
