| Description |
English: An antique cone loudspeaker used with a home radio in the 1920s. The first cone loudspeakers began to replace horn loudspeakers in radios in the mid-1920s. As with many early speakers the paper cone is convex, instead of concave like modern speakers, so that it would disperse sound more widely. These early cone speakers used moving iron drivers, in which the voice coil is stationary and pushes an iron vane back and forth, suspended between the poles of a magnet. The vane is attached to a rod bolted to the vertex of the cone. |
