Description
English: Pope Paul III receives St. Francis Xavier, c. 1619, by André Reinoso, a depiction of the historical meetings of the first Jesuits with the Pope in the year of the official approval of the Society of Jesus in 1540; St. Francis Xavier receives the papal blessing before his departure to Portugal on the way to India, and behind him stand St. Ignatius of Loyola and D. Pedro de Mascarenhas, the Portuguese ambassador in Rome.
Português: O Papa Paulo III recebe São Francisco Xavier, c. 1619, da autoria de André Reinoso, uma representação dos encontros históricos entre os primeiros Jesuítas e o Papa no ano da aprovação da Companhia de Jesus em 1540; São Francisco Xavier recebe a bênção papal antes da sua partida para Portugal a caminho da Índia e, atrás dele, estão Santo Inácio de Loyola e D. Pedro de Mascarenhas, embaixador português em Roma.
