Summary[edit]
DescriptionNuclear Free and Carbon Free United States Electricity Generation by 2028.png |
English: In this projection from 2012 generation, total electricity generation is projected to increase by 4.8% each year, wind power by 30%, and solar by 60%. By 2028, this would displace coal, natural gas, and nuclear from United States electricity generation. Wind generation in 2040 in this projection is 6,035 TWh, and solar 8,823 TWh. This is about 2.3 million MW of wind turbines and 4.9 million MW of solar power. The continental United States has the potential to generate 45,542 TWh from wind and 389,242 TWh from solar, so this is a small percentage of the energy that is available from wind and solar in the United States. |
