Português: Nossa Senhora com o Menino e uma Santa Ícone russo pintado a têmpera e folha-de-ouro, 1800 (c.) O Museu de Arte Sacra do Funchal assinalou, em 2018, o Dia Nacional dos Bens Culturais da Igreja, celebrado a 18 de outubro, com uma exposição que deu a conhecer um conjunto de ícones russos e outros, existente no Funchal para devoção particular, reunido na Europa ao longo de vários anos, essencialmente da coleção particular de D. Teodoro de Faria (1930-), bispo emérito do Funchal, intitulada ‘ICONE – Beleza e Mistério’, mostra, que foi inaugurada dia 17 de outubro de 2018, pelas 18 horas, constituindo, dada a natureza do museu que a acolhe, “um exercício de diálogo entre o catolicismo e a arte sacra de tradição oriental.” Os ícones em exposição, “datados de entre os séculos XVIII e XX, são, na sua maioria, de produção russa, sendo possível observar e comparar diversas representações temáticas ligadas ao antigo e novo testamento, bem como à vida de alguns santos, comuns entre as Igrejas Católica e Ortodoxa, ou exclusivos desta última.” Organizada, sobretudo, no sentido de “dar a conhecer alguns aspetos históricos e a profunda espiritualidade e função sacramental de um ícone, enquanto revelação do invisível, esta exposição insere-se, ainda, no espírito da (re)descoberta ocidental pela arte ortodoxa existente em coleções particulares, em museus ou igrejas em Portugal.” |
