The MujcliW, or K.isr: Ruins of Babylon. (From Rich.) mile to the south of the mound last described. It is the Kasr,or Palace, of Rich ; a name by which it is now generallyknown to travellers, but the Arabs call it the Mujelibe, or theoverturned. The principal part of this great ruinconsists of loose bricks, tiles, and fragments of stone ; butnearly in the centre a solid mass of masonry, still entire, andeven retaining remains of architectural ornament, protrudesfrom the confused heap of rubbish. Piers, buttresses, andpilasters may be traced ; but the work of destruction hasbeen too complete to allow us to determine whether theybelong to the interior or exterior of a palace.
