| Description |
English: The new city hall of Frankfurt am Main from 1908 situated next to the famous Pauls church, near the Roemerberg. In the middle of this administrative building (with a restaurant in the cellar) there is the "sigh bridge" of Frankfurt, the tower in the front on the left side is "kleiner Cohn" ("little Cohn") and the other neogothic tower is "Langer Franz" ("big/long Franz"). It is intended to restore both towers in their original form, like it was before the building was heavily damaged in the 2nd World War.
Deutsch: Das Neue Rathaus von Frankfurt am Main, nahe der berühmten Paulskirche am nach dieser benannten Paulsplatz, in unmittelbarer Nähe des Römerbergs innerhalb der Überreste der Frankfurter Altstadt. In der Mitte dieses Verwaltungsbaus von 1908 befindet sich die sogenannte "Seufzerbrücke"; der kürzere Turm im Vordergrund wird als "Kleiner Cohn" bezeichnet, der größere neugotische Turm im Hintergrund nennt sich "Langer Franz". Es ist seit einigen Jahren angedacht, beide Türme sowie den kompletten Dachbereich des Neuen Rathauses zu rekonstruieren. Und zwar im Erscheinungsbild, das vor den Zerstörungen des 2. Weltkrieges noch existierte, denn die Wiederherstellung wurde sehr vereinfacht und schnell durchgeführt und entspricht nun nicht mehr den Vorstellungen einer gelungenen Rekonstruktion (im Gegensatz zum Römerberg beispielsweise). |
