Social Service Department DIRECTORS REPORT The statistical report gives a very meagre idea of the work accom-plished by the Social Service Department. Our aim has been to bring tothe physicians a picture of the home conditions of our patients, emphasiz-ing such facts as may be of value in aiding in diagnosis and plan of treat-ment, and to bring to the patients adequate instruction, supervision andsuch aid as may be necessary to enable them to carry out the doctorsadvice. As our hospital is a teaching hospital, we also endeavor to be anintegral part in this work of the Medical Staff, by following up such casesas they wish and ascertaining such facts as may be desired. In November a Cardiac Worker was added to our staff, and arrange-ments have been made, in co-operation with the Committee of PublicHealth Education, to carry the work they have been doing in connectionwith cardiac classes in Public Schools Nos. 17 and 58. These children areall attending our clinic. The Obstetrical Workers
