Report of the Boarding-Out Department THE Boarding-Out Department completed its 21st year withan increase in census of 31 children. This increase isfound mainly in the number received from the ChildrensCourt, and from the Department of Public Welfare of West-chester County. An increase in the number of private organizations boardingchildren with this department is also noted, and in this connec-tion a new work undertaken by the department is that for theNew York Tuberculosis Association. To quote from the reportof that organization: Statistics show that infants under one year of age areespecially susceptible to tuberculosis. The nurses and socialworkers of our tuberculosis clinics are constantly facedwith the serious problem of caring for the baby whosemother has been incapacitated by tuberculosis.
