Summary[edit]

Description Deckhands on one of New York District's drift collection vessels, DCV Hayward, work to lower a 1,500-pound anchor into the Hudson River near where surveyors suspected a missing engine from U.S. Airways Flight 1549 was located. The anchor was attached to a line, which was attached to a buoy. The Hudson River is deep and visibility is extremely low underwater so divers would follow the line all the way to the bottom to search for the engine, which they did eventually find.
