Summary[edit]

Description
English: Southbound along U.S. Route 301 as it approaches a bridge over the Nottoway River in Sussex County, Virginia. The bridge was built in 2017, and replaced a 1928-built pony truss bridge that was often seen from Interstate 95, which has relieved traffic on US 301 in the county considerably since the 1970's, thus reducing traffic using this bridge primarily to local residents. Unfortunately, despite this lighter use, the previous bridge had always been rated as being in poor condition in more recent times and was finally torn down in November 2016.
