Description
English: Photo taken on May 8th, 2019 at Lofoten War Memorial Museum ("Lofoten Krigsminnemuseum") in Svolvær, Norway. The museum exhibits uniforms, smaller items, etc. from World War II and the German occupation of Norway 1940–1945:
  • Uniform of a leader or officer of the Reich/State Labour Service (German: Reichsarbeitsdienst, RAD) in Nazi Germany (the Third Reich):
    • Peaked cloth service cap (Tuchmutze, "Arsch mit Griff") with RAD emblem (sheaves, spade head, swastika). Traditional farmer's style hat (althochdeutsch Spessartmütze).
    • Tunic (Waffenrock) with pockets, cuffs and closed collar. Earthbrown-coloured with chocolate brown collar.
      • Paramilitary rank insignia of Unterfeldmeister der Reichsarbeitsdienst (a RAD rank roughly equivalent to an Oberfähnrich) on shoulder straps (Shulterklappen, Schulterstücke) and collar tabs (RAD style Litzen braids on Kragenspiegel, Kragenpatten )
      • Spadeshaped patch on the upper left sleeve with battalion and company numbers
    • Gorget (Kragenspiegel, Brustschild) with Arbeit adelt ("work/labour ennobles") RAD motto and "swastika-on-shovel" RAD emblem
    • Medal ribbon bars:

      • Golden Party Badge (Goldenes Parteiabzeichen), Nazi Party (NSDAP) pin for members who had registered numbers from 1 to 100,000
      • Gautag Ost-Hannover 1939 pin
      • Gausieger 1938 Hitlerjugend, a Hitler Youth/DAF Gau (German state) level 1938 national trade competition victors badge
      • Wasserkuppe-Rhon 3. Internat. Luftrennen 1940, National Socialist Flyers Corps (Nationalsozialistisches Fliegerkorps NSFK)pin
    • Swastika armband (Hakenkreuzarmbinde)
    • Emsland district cufftitle (Ärmelstreife). This cuff title was worn by units assigned to the Emsland project (Emslandkultivierung), a reclamation operation for marshy land in northwest Germany.
    • Crossbelt ("Sam Browne belt") with RAD emblem on belt buckle
    • RAD dagger/hewer (Haumesser) in scabbard on hanger
RAD forces helped org.Todt in German occupied Norway during World War II.

  • Uniform for offiser (leder) i Reichsarbeitsdienst (RAD), den tyske arbeidstjenesten i det nazistiske Tyskland, en obligatorisk samfunnstjeneste med kroppsarbeid for unge voksne. RAD var også i Norge under andre verdenskrig å bistå Organisation Todt (OT) i bygging av veier, anlegg osv.
    • RAD-emblemet bestod av et hakekors, nazistenes hovedsymbol, plassert på et spadeblad med to kornaks under.
    • RAD-merket ble båret foran på en karakteristisk skyggelue inspirert av en tradisjonell tysk bondelue, den «gammelhøytyske» Spessartmütze.
    • Uniformen var jordfarget. Jakka hadde åpen krage med skjorte og slips under. På venstre overarm på jakker og frakker var RADs spadeformede skjold med nummer på lokal og regional avdeling. Alle bar hakekorsbind som medlemmer av NSDAP, Hitlers nazistparti.
  • Paradeuniform for major i Wehrmacht, den tyske hæren i Hitler-Tyskland
    • Høylue med hakekorsørn og kokarde
    • Uniformsjakke (Waffenrock) med gradtegn på skulderklaffene, dobbletlisser for offiserer på kragespeilene, brystørn (Brustadler), adjutantsnor, flere jernkors og DRL-sportsmerke. Passepoiler i rød våpenfarge (Waffenfarbe) for artilleriet.
    • Ridebukser, høye skaftestøvler
