print 5x7 b&w DECORATED CORPSMAN -- Navy Hospital Corpsman Third Class Douglas L. Wean, of Mount Morris, Ill., earned two medals for heroism during a North . Vietnamese artillery attack on a Marine Corps position in Quang Tri Province, Republic of Vietnam, last September. The Silver Star Medal, left, the Nation's fourth highest combat award, was given Wean for saving the lives of two wounded Marines. He also received the Purple Heart for a wound he received during the same attack. Vice Admiral George M. Davis, Chief, Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, and Navy Surgeon General, presented the Silver Star Medal to Wean at a ceremony February 14 at the Naval Hospital, Great Lakes, Ill., where Wean is now stationed.
