Ursprünglich stammt die Radierung aus der um 1790 bei Jean Morino in Berlin publizierten 24teiligen "Sammlung einiger schönen Ansichten von Potsdam [...]". Das achte Blatt der Serie zeigt den Blick von der heutigen Humboldtstraße mit den Havelkolonnaden hin zur Langen Brücke aus der Zeit des Großen Kurfürsten. Die Zugbrücke mit bewachtem Torhaus wurde 1664 errichtet und bestand bis ins erste Viertel des 19. Jahrhunderts. Friedrich Wilhelm II. in Begleitung zweier Militärs ist im Begriff, die Brücke zu passieren. In der Sammlung des Potsdam Museums befinden sich zwei Versionen des Blattes: die um 1790 in Berlin publizierte und diese um die gleiche Zeit entstandene, mit Deckfarben übermalte Variante |
