| Description |
English: In Bengal we have a tradition of feeding the Birthday Girl/Boy extravagantly. The entire lunch here is cooked by my Mother, Tapati Paul. The rice in the plate is accompanied by starters like Uccher Chochhori(appetizer containing bitter gourd) and 5 different fried foods which is a ritual. Then we have Dal (pulses), Aloo Posto (a famous bengali dish made with potato and poppy seeds), and there's fishes (rohu and prawn- my favourites) called Malaicurry for the main course and
for desert we have Payesh (a must have for the Birthday Boy/Girl made with rice and condensed milk) and Rosomalai in the end which is actually Rasgulla immersed in sweet milk. If its your birthday we, Bengalies, are basically the champions of making you feel special (at least foodwise) and by the way the utensils you see in the photo are exactly the same utensils that i've been eating from on each birthday since my 5th b'day :D |
