English: WW2 militaria, memorabilia, collectables, etc.:
  • Britain’s wartime prime minister Winston Churchill:
    • Churchill's wartime 'Siren Suit'. Britain’s wartime prime minister, Winston Churchill, signed his trademark suit to enable him to retain a measure of somfort without forfeiting his formal authority when working long hours. The small patches of red paint on the front are from the times that he was painting, one of his favorite pastimes. Wax figure / mannequin of Churchill
    • Photo of Churchill in his suit
    • 'Victory' propaganda poster with portrait painting of Churchill
    • “SAIL ON, O SHIP OF STATE!” by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, was written out by Franklin D. Roosevelt in a letter to Churchill, who, in turn, had this broadside made. A copy was obtained by Roosevelt’s personal envoy to Britain, Harry Hopkins, who asked FDR and the Prime Minister to sign it when they met for the Atlantic Charter. Roosevelt had copied the stanza of Longfellow from memory for Churchill on Jan. 19, 1941, the day before his third inauguration, and forwarded it with a personal letter addressed to “a certain Naval person” In that letter, Roosevelt explained his conviction that “this verse applies to your people as well as to us.”
    • Photo of Churchill addressing the US Congress on 26 December 1941. Following the attack on Pearl Harbor and the US declaration of war, Churchill had flown to the US to meet Roosevelt face to face and to cement the UK-US relationship.
    • Wartime painted portrait of Churchill from the R. A. F. Officer's Mess at Barnby Moor, Yorkshire (RAF Pocklington)
    • Royal Navy flag used in the Dunkirk operation
etc.
Photo taken in 2015 showing items from the exhibitions in the former International Museum of World War II in Natick, Massachusetts, a few miles west of Boston. The museum existed from 1999 to 2019 and housed a by-reservation-only collection of memorabilia and militaria consisting of over 7,000 artifacts, 100 uniforms, books, photos, etc.
