The portrait remained for a long time in a chest in the Black home, rolled and unframed, before becoming temporarily unlocated; later in the possession of Helen Hasson (Mrs. William Hazel), the daughter of James Hasson (who was the son of Agnes Meek and John Hasson) (Agnes Meek later married Major John Nelson Black); later purchased by Josephine L. Black Cantwell, daughter of John Nelson Black, and returned by her to the Black home, Charlestown, Cecil County, Maryland; Mrs. Benjamin Franklin Caulk (Edna Black), Charlestown; after her death, Dr. W.A. Cantwell, Northeast, Maryland, son of Josephine L. Black Cantwell. |
