Description
English: Mould figuring the image of the god Osiris. Terra cotta. 664-332 BC. Louvre museum (Paris, France). During the feast of the god Osiris, figurines are made from raw earth and barley grains. After ritual watering, young shoots germinate symbolizing the rebirth of the god and the vegetation.
Français : Moule avec l'image du dieu Osiris. Terre cuite. 664-332 av. J.-C. Musée du Louvre. Pendant la fête du dieu Osiris, des figurines sont fabriquées avec de la terre crue et des grains d'orge. Après des arrosages rituels, des jeunes pousses germent symbolisant la renaissance du dieu et de la végétation.
