A view of the Monongahela Wharf and the surrounding area, as seen from Water Street, showing period automobiles, trucks being unloaded, and a popular tourist boat advertising "7 day all expense river excursion" trips for $35. The Wabash Bridge, prominent in this image, crossed the Monongahela from downtown to Mount Washington between 1908 and 1948. The 1,504 foot cantilevered span was built by the Wabash-Pittsburgh Terminal Railway Company.
