Title
Modern finger ring
Description
English: A finger ring formed from silver wire, probably of post-medieval or modern date. The ring has two hoops of square sectioned wire and the bezel is formed of two additional strands which have been formed into a knot 6mm across. At either side of the bezel a strand has been wrapped around the hoops.

The ring, particularly the bezel, bears a similarity to early medieval finger rings such as that described in record <a href="https://finds.org.uk/database/artefacts/record/id/73303">KENT-C90BE3</a> on this database, or the item described as 'Viking' in "The Searcher" (June 2018, No. 394, p. 17). However, wire rings with two or more hoops tend to be modern (compare <a href="https://finds.org.uk/database/artefacts/record/id/591208">YORYM-71CDE2</a>, <a href="https://finds.org.uk/database/artefacts/record/id/733467">SWYOR-0B8449,</a> <a href="https://finds.org.uk/database/artefacts/record/id/525942">LANCUM-55C5F6</a> and <a href="https://finds.org.uk/database/artefacts/record/id/536762">DENO-470362</a>). The wire has a square cross-section, which is suggestive of machine manufacture and also implies a modern date.

Diameter 16.4mm, thickness 0.9mm, weight 1.33g.
