Additional information about the background of the photo has been sourced from the better-documented, but lower-resolution copy of the image at the State Library of New South Wales. All information on this copy of the photo, like size and method of printing comes from the image source for this copy, of course. Minnie Tittell Brune, albumen silver Paris panel ; on Paris panel card 18.4 x 25.4 cm, in the role of the Duke of Reichstadt (Napoleon II, the title role) in Edmond Rostand's play L'Aiglon. Written on the aforementioned other copy is the text "You do not know my father's history? then gentlemen I'll tell you."[1]. The New South Wales copy also explains: "In this production Minnie Tittell Brune[']s character is the son of Napoleon I. Besides her debut performance in The Lights o' London as Tim, L'Aiglon was the only production in which Tittell Brune played a male role." The State Library of Victoria describes this as: " Studio portrait, whole-length, sitting, with right elbow resting on table, wearing knee-length boots, jacket, with ruffle at neck, roses on lapel." |
