Description
English: Interior of the Gildehallen, a reconstruction of a Viking Age feast/banquet/party hall ("The Great Viking Hall") inspired by medieval Scandinavian architecture, archaeological finds, crafts and design from the time period, built in 2013 as part of the Midgard Vikingsenter, a Viking Age visitor and educational centre near the Borre burial mounds by the Oslo Fjord in Horten, Norway.
Norsk bokmål: «Gildehallen», en rekonstruert festhall fra yngre jernalder (vikingtid), inspirert av blant annet håndverk, design og byggeskikk fra langhus, stolpebygg, tidlige stavkirker og annet. Hallbygningen ligger på et innhegna leirområde ved Midgard vikingsenter, et publikums- og undervisningssenter på Borre i Horten kommune, like ved Borrehaugene på Vestfold-sida av Oslofjorden. Det er funnet arkeologiske spor (stolpehull) etter tre store bygg fra merovingertida på området, og Gildehallen stod ferdig i 2013. Bildet viser interiør fra hovedrommet i bygningen, med fire takbærende stolper dekorert med utskjæringer og høy takkonstruksjon med synlige takstoler. Treskurden på søylene er malt i sterke farger. Hallen har ingen vinduer bortsett fra glugger øverst. Midt i rommet er et ildsted. Ellers er høysetet til høvdingen sentralt plassert i festsalen, veggene er dekorert med runde vikingskjold og rommet innreda med bord, benker, lamper og annet.
