English: Michaelmas Daisies (Aster novi-belgii) Most of the Michaelmas daisies found in gardens or growing in the wild throughout Britain belong to the Aster novi-belgii group. The plant's name is derived from the Feast of St. Michael that is traditionally held on 29. September: although the flowering months are from August to late October, this is also the time when the flowers usually bloom. Michaelmas daisies originate from North America. They were introduced to Great Britain in the early 1700s. |
