Title |
Medieval purse frame |
||
Description |
English: A corroded and slightly twisted cast copper-alloy fragment of the pendant frame of a late medieval or early post-medieval purse (Ward Perkins Type A2). This object is broadly V-shaped in cross section, though the exterior side gently slopes whilst the interior side falls away more steeply. On the outer side there are traces of incised decoration, which features the word 'HONOR' flanked to each side by scrolled motifs; the interior side is undecorated. This artefact has a dark-green patina over a red/brown metal with areas of lighter corrosion product. |
