Title
Medieval purse: Purse loop fragment
Description
English: A fragment of a copper alloy purse bar of late medieval date. The fragment is part of the curved outer frame of the purse and is broadly U-shaped in section with a semi-circular hole down one edge. The fragment is decorated on one outer edge only with large incised triple-stranded Xs. The hole may have been where a rivet secured the purse to its frame. This example is of Ward-Perkins (1954) Type A1 and dates to the late 15th century. For a complete example see LIN-714575.
