Title
Medieval - Post Medieval purse frame
Description
English: Fragment of a cast copper alloy purse frame. The frame is V shaped in section and has a curved profile. There are two sewing holes. It is broken at both ends and in one end and there is evidence of a third hole. Length is 44.7mm, width 10.5 mm, thickness 2mm. It weighs 7.93grams. Ward Perkins (1940:169) suggests metal frame purses became popular towards the end of the 15th century and drop out of use by the end of the 16th.
