It is not every day that I get to see a McDonald's that has live piano performances. But this one, close to the World Trade Center site, does. I had come here to eat after my first (and last) visit to the World Trade Center observation deck in 1991, and I am back after visiting the area in 2011. Granted, it is quite inappropriate coming here right after visiting the Occupy Wall Street protests, but for some good live piano music, I can sell my soul out for a few minutes. The music does come at a price; this location's prices are quite high, even by Manhattan standards. A Big Mac Extra Value Meal costs about $8 here, whereas I expect to pay just under $6 in Southern California and closer to $7 in Manhattan. And back in 1991, when I was paying $2 for a Big Mac in Southern California and $2.70 in Manhattan, this store was charging well over $3 already. |
