Summary[edit]

Description
English: Marking the meridian at night The green line on this photograph is the laser beam shining North from the Royal Observatory at Greenwich across the Thames, to mark the meridian line. This scene can only be clearly seen at night, as the laser is either switched off or invisible against the brightness of the sky during the day. The photograph was taken from outside the Plume of Feathers pub.
