English: This is a "Manoo Mari", literally "human bread". It is used similarly as the Gender Bread image. It is introduced to explain the concept of Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression and Sex Characteristics (SOGIESC). Manoo Mari is derived from the Newa culture of 'dya mari', which literally translates to 'god bread'. Dya mari are steamed rice flour dough shaped to resemble gods. They are used during the festival of Swonti Nakha. |
